More swimmers than ever before are set to take part in our Drake’s Island swim.
This Sunday (22nd), almost 300 swimmers will set off from Firestone Bay to raise money for testicular, prostate and penile cancer patients in the South West.
The swim is being made possible with help from several local businesses based in Plymouth’s Royal William Yard. These include Steel Brew Co., where those taking part will register in the morning and BLOCK, who are sponsoring the swim and offering a week’s gym pass for swimmers. There’ll also be a DJ at The News Cafe from 12pm to create a vibrant atmosphere, and later in the afternoon a live music performance at Steel Brew from local artist Tom Baker.
Everyman cinema, also based in the Royal William Yard, will be hosting a special film screening free of charge for those who’ve taken part in the swim. The screening will showcase a film that celebrates the ocean and offer a chance for Sunday’s swimmers to relax together after the challenge.
Everyman will also kindly donate to The Chestnut Appeal any money made from popcorn sales during the screening, whilst Halogi saunas have kindly offered limited free taster sessions in which swimmers can warm up.
