Earlier this month, we partnered with Plymouth Argyle to run a free PSA testing event at Home Park. The testing took place just before Argyle’s match against Huddersfield Town, so men could have the quick blood test before watching the game.
Over 300 men had the test. 63 men were flagged as Amber or Red. This means they’ve been told to go to their GP for further tests.
While being flagged doesn’t mean someone has cancer, these numbers show the important role of the PSA test in the battle to catch cancer early. That’s because a high PSA can sometimes be an early warning sign of prostate cancer, and would lead a doctor to do further testing.
