People and Place exhibition which is a salon style hang of Plymouth through the ages with a particular focus on works by Female artists including Wilhemina Barns-Graham, Elizabeth Adela Forbes and Rose Hilton. Drawings by Dame Barbara Hepworth, plus new acquisitions by the much loved Beryl Cook and 2019 Turner Prize Winner Tai Shani.
Experience the UK premiere of a new multi-screen film commission by visionary artist and film maker Sir John Akomfrah. This film is presented across five screens in the shape of a cross and features storms, restless seas, vast skies, beaches, ice fields, mountains, rivers and forests.
‘End of Empire’ by Yinka Shonebare is a contemporary large-scale sculpture that comments on the balance of power at the outset of the WW1.
To finish your visit off there will be an Indian block printing workshop and refreshments in the Simmons Learning Room. Everyone will take home a printed Tote bag as a memento of their visit.
