A huge thank you to the Plymouth Business Charity group, who presented us with a cheque for an incredible £23,549.16.
This money will be crucial in funding our Survivorship programme, in which we aim to support the nearly half a million men who are living with or after prostate cancer in the UK. Thanks to these funds, we hope to launch the programme in autumn of this year.
The money was raised during a special day of fundraising and awareness last week (13th June) at the Royal Citadel in Plymouth. Ticket holders were treated to a tour of the historic military site, a buffet lunch, and inspiring talks from former servicemen. There was also a raffle, and the chance to bid on some rare military memorabilia in an auction.
As well as being a fantastic day of fundraising, attendees heard from medical staff and prostate cancer patients about the importance of early cancer screening. It’s hoped that this will push more men to get themselves tested, meaning that the event has saved lives as well as raising much-needed funds for charity.
The Plymouth Business Charity Group is a coalition of local business owners who work together to support charities and causes throughout the city. A huge thank you to everyone involved in the organisation of this fantastic event at the Citadel.
If you or someone you know is affected by prostate, testicular or penile cancer, our free patient and family support groups across Devon and Cornwall offer a space to connect with others who understand what you’re going through.
