Penile Cancer – get the facts!

Penile Cancer is thankfully still quite rare in the UK, BUT is on the rise globally, and needs to be diagnosed early. If left this cancer is devastating.

Ways to lower your chances of getting Penile Cancer.

Get the HPV vaccine, it helps protect against human papillomavirus (HPV).  The types of HPV that can cause genital warts are not the same as the types that can cause cancer. In general, HPV is thought to be responsible for more than 90% of anal and cervical cancers, about 70% of vaginal and vulvar cancers, and 60% of penile cancers.

Keep good hygiene, wash your willy.

Keep good sexual hygiene and use condoms.

Keep an eye on your penis, any changes, any growths, any soreness, any patches, any thickening, any rashes, anything different, get it checked. It’s unlikely you’ll have penile cancer, currently 2 men a day in the UK are diagnosed with penile cancer, so pretty low numbers, however, any delay in diagnosis could reduce your chances of successful treatment, with more evasive treatment being needed.

Main message, don’t delay in getting any changes looked at.
