On Sunday evening, at The Church of King Charles the Martyr in Falmouth, two fabulous choirs, Nankersey and Mousehole Male Voice Choirs sang their hearts out to raise funds for The Chestnut Appeal for Men’s Health. It was an emotional evening, with stories of hope and survival talked about during the interval.
They were very supported by the local community, and given an address by the charity’s CEO, Lesley-Ann Simpson, and the Chair of the Board, Consultant Urologist, Mr Mark Mantle explaining about the work of the charity and our plans for any funding raising. The concert raised a staggering £2055 which will go towards special prostate sizers, that will be used by Urologists, not only in the Royal Cornwall Hospital, but at community clinics planned for Penzance and Bodmin. These probes cost £6000 each, so this incredible amount will go a long way towards that.
The charity would like to thank the organisers, Peter Thomas and Kevin Hosking, the volunteers selling the raffle tickets, the local businesses who donated some amazing raffle prizes, the church warden, The Cornish Store, Adrian Wilton who hosted the evening, the communities of Falmouth and Mousehole, and of course everyone who came along to make the evening so special.
