Trustees’ Week is a chance for the sector to pay tribute to the amazing contribution trustees make.
We would like to thank all our wonderful trustees for the work they do, the advice they give and the support they offer. Trustees really are the true backbone of the sector & we couldn’t operate without them.
Trustees are unpaid volunteers, ensuring correct governance of a charity, and making sure it’s run in accordance with the law and for the public benefit, the charity governance code suggests at least 5 trustees, but no more than 12. We, as a board, tend to sit between 8 and 10 members.
Across the sector there is a shortage of Trustees, causing skills gaps on boards, however, we have been very lucky at The Chestnut Appeal, and have a wealth of experience behind us, from surgeons to patients, and others with lived experiences.
