The 2024 Chestnut Appeal Burgh Island Swim will take place on Sunday 28th July with a swim time of 11am
Burgh Island is an iconic South Devon landmark, located opposite Bigbury-on-Sea beach. The island is accessible at low tide by a strip of sand which at high tide is completely covered, leaving a ride on the unique sea tractor as the only means of access. As well as the sea tractor the island is famed for its links to Agatha Christie, the art-deco inspired Burgh Island Hotel and as well as a onetime haunt for pirates and smugglers. Burgh Island Hotel
Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it’s the money you raise that helps support Prostate, Testicular and Penile Cancer patients and their families right across Devon and Cornwall. So we ask all our swimmers set themselves a fundraising target of £80, (don’t worry, we’ll help you set up a Just Giving page).
The Swim The Burgh Island swim is suitable for those who can swim a mile in the pool and have experience of Open Water Swimming and be confident swimming in various sea conditions.
