NICKY’s 60th BIRTHDAY FUNDRAISER

For my 60th birthday I am fundraising for the Chestnut Appeal.

I have done several swims for this charity, the most recent being Drakes Island in September 2020, little knowing that only a few months later my husband, Andrew would be diagnosed with prostate cancer and need a radical prostectomy in May of this year.

The Chestnut Appeal donated 125,000 towards the £1m Da Vinci robot at Plymouth Derriford hospital, a procedure which enables groundbreaking micro surgery.  Andrew received this robotic surgery, which was a success and requires no further treatment.   The charity continues to raise funds for equipment, specialist nurses and continuing research into men’s cancers, of which 47,000 are diagnosed each year.

We appreciate all donations and are very grateful to the staff of the Chestnut Unit at Plymouth for Andrew’s care.
