Mike and I would swim together a few times every week – he worked in mental health and would always try and get a swim / run / cycle “in the bag” in the morning before work.
He was a real inspiration for me and contributed positively towards so many others lives through his work and efforts coaching juniors with the local running club South West Road Runners. He was a real believer in “Stripping it back” and living a more simple life embodying natural feel good energy through active pursuits. He’d say “it’s not those runs when it’s sunny that you’ll remember” when dithering about going out in the rain!
I’d be hugely grateful for anything you can contribute towards The Chestnut Appeal – this swim is MASSIVE for me! I’m not a natural swimmer and it’ll be breast stroke all the way for me. It’s further than I’ve swam before, but through Mike I’ve discovered a real love of the sea and am hugely looking forward to it. It’s about 1.5 miles around the island so wish me luck!
Thank you!
