Hello, thank you for taking the time to read about my fundraising attempt.
Every year more than 47,000 new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed in the UK, that’s 129 men a day, with 11,500 of these men dying. The Chestnut Appeal support the very latest in treatments and technology that wouldn’t be available without community fundraising.
On the 15th August I will be joining many others in swimming from the breakwater in Plymouth back to shore, covering 4km (2.5 miles). It will be hard in the cruel sea that will undoubtedly throw me around. However I will persevere knowing it is for a good cause as prostate cancer effects 1 in 8 men in their lifetime.
I have enjoyed swimming in Plymouth on many occasions. The photo attached is of my first outing into the open water. Every time I ventured out I always wandered what it would be like to swim the length to the breakwater (which is as far away as the horizon…). It will be an enjoyable personal achievement to finally realise this, all while raising money for a great cause.
Any donations would be warmly welcome. Thank you for your support!
Mark.
