The Chestnut Appeal was founded in 1999 at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and has since gone on to be at the forefront of prostate cancer care right across the region. We support the very latest in treatments and technology that wouldn’t be available without community fundraising and donations from the public. The chestnut appeal for men’s health is highlighting the most common cancer in men, Prostate Cancer, as well as raising awareness of Testicular Cancer and Penile Cancer, two other quite treatable cancers that sadly if left can be devastating.

The drake’s island swim participants will set off from the beach at Firestone Bay with the swim to Drakes Island and back taking place in the shelter of the Bay. Situated in Plymouth Sound, this 6.5-acre Island has been home to a military fortification since the time of the Tudors. Today the Island is in private hands. It’s a great swim for anyone new to an organised Open Water Swim at around 1.5km in distance.
