Last year I set myself a lockdown challenge to do the Breakwater Swim for the Chestnut Appeal. It’s a Men’s Health charity that supports men who have been diagnosed with Testicular, Prostrate and Penile cancer.
At the heart of what they do is raising awareness of these treatable cancers. 129 men a day are diagnosed with prostrate cancer alone.
For me the swim is twofold:
1. It’s the furthest continuous swim I have ever done and is a testament to the support and friendship I have received from a bunch of great people who swim regularly at Devils Point. The group called 3buoys probably don’t begin to understand the ways they have helped a huge number of people deal with their challenges.
2. By asking for sponsorship, however small, someone might read something on the Chestnut Appeal website, that might lead them to getting themselves checked out.
