On the 11th of September 2021 Harry and Rory will swim round St Michaels Mount for the Chestnut Appeal.
The Chestnut Appeal aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer, funds specialist prostate cancer nurses and provides equipment for prostate cancer care.
Unfortunately this year Harry’s uncle passed away due to prostate cancer. After his diagnosis Harry’s dad got checked and was found to have it too. Fortunately Harry’s dad caught it early and is in remission.
Because of this Harry will be having regular checks for it from the age of 45.
If you are a man over the age of 50 (or 45 if you have a family history of it) please get checked for prostate cancer catching it early makes a big difference.
The swim is 2.5km (1.55 miles) in open water around Cornwall’s St Michael’s Mount. We consider ourselves good swimmers, but will need to put in a fair amount of training as we have never swam this far in open water before.
Please help us reach our target to support the Chestnut Appeal and to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
If you are a man over the age of 50 who has not been checked for prostate cancer please ask your gp for a check.
