On the 11th of September 2021 I will swim round St Michaels Mount for the Chestnut Appeal.
The Chestnut Appeal aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer, funds specialist prostate cancer nurses and provides equipment for prostate cancer care.
Unfortunately this year my uncle passed away due to prostate cancer. After his diagnosis my dad got checked and was found to have it too. Fortunately my dad caught it early and is in remission.
Because of this I will be having regular checks for it from the age of 45.
The swim is 2.5km (1.55 miles) in open water around Cornwall’s St Michael’s Mount. I consider myself a good swimmer, but will need to put in a fair amount of training as I have never swam this far in open water before.
Please help me reach my target to support the Chestnut Appeal and to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
If you are a man over the age of 50 who has not been checked for prostate cancer please ask your gp for a check.
