Your donations and a Plymouth man’s legacy gift have once again helped cancer patients take a much-needed break on us.
The summer season at our holiday home in Looe, Cornwall has been busier than ever. Dozens of patients have made use of the space for a respite stay before, during, or after cancer treatment and as a chance to make memories with loved ones.
The holiday home was purchased with money left to us in a will by Keven Beer from Plymouth. When people leave us a legacy donation like this, we always want to create something in their name that can help people for many years to come. You can click here to find out how legacy giving works.
Thanks to Mr Beer’s gift, and your donations which help with running costs, we can continue to offer these free respite holidays to men who’ve been diagnosed with prostate, penile and testicular cancer.
One patient who stayed at the home said: “First of all, huge thanks to Mr Beer’s legacy and the Chestnut Appeal team for purchasing a holiday home in which we can relax.
“We have had a fantastic week, blessed with sunshine every day. We unwound from this chaotic world, talked, played cards and visited some lovely places. Thank you so much for this.”
Every single donation, no matter how big or small, will help us to provide these vital breaks to cancer patients. The money we receive also helps us fund specialist staff and equipment to make the treatment of cancers easier, and to spread awareness of men’s cancers.
We have strict guidelines for who can enjoy a free holiday at the home, so that it’s there for those who need it most.
