We are starting 2023 as we mean to go on, with 3 fully trained Men’s Health Champions for our region.

We introduce Steph in Cornwall, David for the Plymouth and South Devon area and Matt for Exeter and North Devon. They qualified as Men’s Health Champions just before Christmas and are ready to help you.

What is a Health Champion?

Health Champions are not health professionals but others who care about public health and want to help improve it.  Almost anyone can train to be a Health Champion. Champions are often members of a group, club, workplace, company or other organisation who watch out for their colleagues. It can be very fulfilling to see people turn their health round.

If you would like to get in touch with a Health Champion in your local area please contact chestnut.appeal@nhs.net  and we’ll  put you in touch !

Do Health Champions make a difference for men?

The research suggests they can make a real difference. For men, they can be particularly useful: their more informal, man-to-man approach can provide an invaluable stepping stone between the men in their community and traditional, more formal health services.

Did you know that One man in five dies before the age of 65.
TOGETHER we can change that!  Thanks to Men’s Health Forum for providing the training package and the manuals.  https://www.menshealthforum.org.uk/mens-health-champions-training
