Can you help us bring MRi-Fusion to Cornwall..

23rd June 2017

The Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer is working with staff at The Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro in an attempt to bring the very latest in diagnostic technology to Cornwall. A large fundraising appeal is underway and with your help we can give men a faster and more accurate diagnosis of this most common cancer in men. The Ultrasound-MRi Fusion for Targeted Diagnosis of Prostate Cancer will be the most up-to-date diagnostic technology in the country.

Lesley-Ann Simpson, Director of the Chestnut Appeal, says: “What I think is great about The Chestnut Appeal is that our donors can see what their fundraising efforts can do and we are so very grateful for all the help we receive in the community, YOU really do make a difference".

She went on to say: “This fundraising campaign for Cornwall is running in tandem with a campaign we're running in for the Torbay area. We want to ensure that as many men across Devon & Cornwall can get access to this amazing technology. At a cost of £105,000 Ultrasound-MRi Fusion really is state of the art and with your help we can fusion the entire region".

The MRI-Fusion device provides precise targeting and is the best possible prostate biopsy currently available. Whether for a first biopsy or as a repeat biopsy, patients have a greater peace of mind knowing that the chance of detecting significant prostate cancer is maximised whilst minimising the risk of false negative results.
