Thank you Jim & Martin Cording

Date: 23rd May 2017

At aged 80 Jim Cording ran his 10th London Marathon. Joining him was his son Martin....here's his amazing story; In 2006 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and was both shocked and very much at a low ebb, but the care and treatment that I received from the teams of doctors and nurses at Plymouth and Bristol hospitals, was absolutely first clαss.

During my year of treatment I discovered that the Chestnut Appeal Charity provided enormous support to fund the dedicated Prostate Doctors and Nurses. I felt that I needed to help in some way and my two sons suggested that I run the London Marathon.

Having never run any distance before I was determined to help the Charity and have now managed to run nine times. Thank you to all my friends and family especially to my wife Joan for all her support these past 10 years, it is not easy being the partner of a marathon runner. Thanks also to my sons Steve and Martin who have both run the course with me for four of the past nine years and of course all the people who have supported me over the years.

Jim raised in 2017 £2163.25 for the charity and to date has raised over £10,000 from Marathon running alone. He now hopes to stick to just half marathons but can't promise!
