The Chestnut Appeal 2018 St Michaels Mount Swim

Date: 11th August 2018

The Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer’s annual one and a half mile swim around the spectacular St Michaels Mount will take place on Saturday 11th August 2018 at 16.00. The St Michaels Mount swim starts on the beach at Marazion where swimmers will set off for the Mount over the causeway swimming through clear waters around the Mount before making a course back to the beach to cheers from friends and family and a welcome pasty. The swim can be quite challenging and we ask that all those who take part can complete the distance in a pool and have experience of Open Water Swimming.

Registration for the swim is £35. Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it's the money you raise that helps Prostate Cancer patients and their families, so we ask all our St Michaels Mount Swimmers set themselves a Sponsorship target of at least £75.

The Chestnut Appeal is currently raising money to purchase an MRI Fusion Scanner for The Royal Cornwall Hospital. At a cost of £105,000 the Ultrasound MRI Fusion Scanner is bringing the best in Prostate Cancer diagnostics to the region. Every 45 minutes, a man dies from prostate cancer in the UK.

The St Michaels Mount swim will be fully supported by the team from Event Water Safety. Event Water Safety have covered all our swims since 2011. EWS provide safety at some of the UK’s biggest swims including the Dart 10k and Bournemouth Pier to Pier.

Entry to the St Michaels Mount Swim includes; a medal on completion of the swim, full water safety support, an event swim cap, water and an end of swim pasty.

St. Michaels Mount, home to the St. Aubyn family is managed by the National Trust and a beautiful place to visit. At low tide, it is possible to walk across the causeway to the mount.
